School Introduction 学校介绍

北京王府外国语学校（RFLS）是北京王府学校的小学。 BRS是位于中国北京的K-12大学预备寄宿学校。RFLS试图将传统的中国教育理念与创新的国际教育方法相结合，以进行现代教育。

Beijing Royal Foreign Language School (RFLS) is the elementary school of Beijing Royal School. BRS is a K-12 college preparatory boarding school located in Beijing, China. RFLS has sought to combine traditional Chinese educational philosophies with an innovative international teaching approach to modern education.

Students 学生们

In grade one, there are a total of nine classes. The first three grade one classes are a part of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) department and have a foreign and Chinese homeroom teacher. For the other six classes, they are an integral part of the school's English as a Second Language (ESL) department. As the students are supported by a Chinese homeroom teacher and teaching assistant (TA), I will have English class with all six classes three times per week in order to fulfill their English schooling. All of our grade one students come from countries such as The United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom, bringing their own international identities to the classroom. However, no matter where my students come from, we are united in our pursuit of reaching our language learning goals. Even at such a young age, their work ethic and dedication to learning is unrivaled. These students deserve all the recognition and praise for their valiant efforts.

一年级共有九节课。前三个一年级班是国际学士学位（IB）小学课程（PYP）部门的一部分，并有中外班主任。对于其他六个班级，它们是学校英语作为第二语言（ESL）部门的组成部分。由于学生得到了中文班主任和助教（TA）的支持，我将每周上六次全部六个课的英语课，以完成他们的英语教学。我们所有的一年级学生都来自美国，加拿大，澳大利亚，新西兰，英国等国家，他们将自己的国际身份带入课堂。但是，无论我的学生来自哪里，我们都将团结一致地努力实现语言学习目标。即使在这么小的年龄，他们的职业道德和对学习的奉献精神几乎无与伦比。这些学生的英勇努力值得大家的认可和赞赏。

Classrooms 教师

每个教室都有几乎相同的设计和布局，但有自己的不同之处。必须理解的是，除外国独资或运营学校外，中国的公立和私立学校都必须按照政府规定进行设计，因此大多数学校将表现出类似的安排。

Each classroom shares a near identical design and layout with its own exceptional differences. What must be understood is that both public and private schools in China with the exception of foreign owned or operated schools, are required to be designed according to government regulations therefore the majority of schools will show similar arrangements.

Students' desks are arranged in a traditional style of placement. Because of the limited space, in order to see the whiteboard and projector screen, teachers have opted to keep this arrangement. Now, in abiding by Coronavirus safety precautions, students must also keep at a distance from each other in and outside the classroom.

学生课桌以传统的摆放方式布置。由于空间有限，为了查看白板和投影仪的屏幕，教师选择保留这种布置。现在，为了遵守冠状病毒安全预防措施，学生还必须在教室内外相互保持一定距离。

As China is a continually developing country, limited technology is used in the class. The use of whiteboards, a computer, and projector are what teachers and students use to disseminate information and further learning. While our classroom may not be the most technologically advanced, all teachers and students take advantage of the available resources and use them to their full capabilities.

In order to create a warm and inviting atmosphere, each class will decorate the outside wall of their room and the door to their liking. Even during Halloween, there will be a door decorating contest which gets very competitive! Each classroom has their own bookshelf of books in both Chinese and English to read during break time. Students are also encouraged to stay hydrated as they have class from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day so shelves for water bottles are kept at the front of the classroom. As students are busy throughout the day, it can be hectic so each classroom keeps its schedule in bold, colorful letters next to the door of the classroom to remind students where they will go next.
